Explain a cost without guessing its owner

The short answer

Built and checked. Not released. Benefit not yet shown.

A synthetic ownership contract conserves exact costs and makes missing resource evidence explicit. Actual app attribution remains gated on a source decision. Contract verified in source; real attribution blocked on source evidence.

  1. BuiltYes

Offline ownership contract and a fixed synthetic proof, in source.

  2. CheckedYes

33 focused checks; full project check 420 Node tests, SSO 23, infrastructure 46; independent review found nothing to act on.

  3. ReleasedNot yet

No app deployment. No live data or provider access was needed.

  4. Shown usefulNot yet

Not shown. Actual app spend, savings and an active export are not established.

These stage notes are a reading of this report’s own text, written afterwards and not yet confirmed by its author.

1Did it add value?

Yes, as a contract and a safety guard. The previous arithmetic core checked declared allocations but did not connect them to dated resource facts. The new offline adapter requires explicit matched evidence and explains each selected charge. It does not establish actual app spend, savings, an active data export or deployed acceptance.

2The challenge changed the plan

Claude Code returned REVISE before kickoff. It identified missing resource-level source data, a conflict between ownership corrections and provider revisions, premature history/consumer work and unspecified refunds/privacy. All four findings were accepted. Only the contract, synthetic proof and source decision packet were admitted; the larger programme remains gated.

3What the synthetic proof shows

A dated resource changes from site to world while a second resource in the same provider account belongs to snap. An older provider revision is replaced once. Exact observed cost is 9007199254740993.420000000000000001 USD; 0.02 USD remains unattributed, including the negative refund. These deliberately extreme sample figures are not real spend.

A separate ownership-ruleset correction moves one charge to admin without changing source charge revisions or the total. The original projection reproduces independently; projections are not added together. The existing cached-input fixture remains entirely unattributed because its resource evidence is absent.

4Checks and independent review

All 33 focused accounting/view/attribution checks passed. The full required project check passed 420 Node tests, SSO 23 and infrastructure 46. An independent code reviewer found no actionable findings and separately ran 11 attribution and 10 core tests; the canonical arithmetic and cached-input adapter remain unchanged.

The demo rejects supplied file paths and reads only committed fixtures. Tests cover qualified identity, UTC ownership boundaries/gaps/overlap, credits, unknown fields, conflicts, coverage and missing versus zero. No app deployment or live data/provider access was needed. Final PR integration and any available automatic findings are recorded in its receipt.

5Time, usage and rework

The initial run window is 09:10–11:10 UTC 29 October, with 15 minutes reserved for closure. This report was prepared after local implementation/review at 09:27 UTC. Shared Codex usage was 28% at admission and 29% before this closing phase; that shared-account change is not attributable task cost. Exact per-actor token/cost counters and Claude quota coverage were unavailable. The 80%-used stop remains.

Two avoidable local corrections were made: the manual generator needed its explicit build option, caught before the first full test phase; a demo text assertion needed to allow terminal line wrapping. Completed valid checks were retained.

6Author assessment

Usefulness 2/3: verified contract guard, actual benefit unmeasured. Correctness evidence 2/3: relevant positive/negative and independent checks. Efficiency 1/3: avoidable local rework recorded. Observability 1/3: phase/quota receipts exist, per-actor accounting incomplete. Independent verification 2/3: separate reviewer and reproduction. Learning 2/3: the source gap and independent correction versions changed the delivered scope. These are author assessments with separate dimensions, not an overall score or independent rating.

7Next decision

Keep honest aggregate-only reporting, or separately authorize bounded discovery of existing resource exports, tag configuration and historical coverage. Only after that evidence should a costed new export, history service, product pilot or consumer exposure be considered. No fixed price, historical coverage or live authority is invented.

Source merges are authorized after checks and review. Staging is conditional on a necessary check being impossible locally; none was found. Production, collection, new recurring resources, notifications and customer billing remain off. Roadmap wording remains with the controlling chat.
